By entering a competition, you agree to be bound by these Competition Terms in addition to our Terms of Business and Privacy Notice.
Our competitions are structured as skill-based prize competitions and are intended to comply with the Gambling Act 2005 and applicable UK consumer protection legislation.

- Provide accurate and complete information
- Not be an employee (or immediate family member of an employee) of Plate Seller Ltd
- attempts to manipulate pricing, listings, or competitions

3. Skill Requirement
Each competition requires entrants to answer a skill-based question correctly.
An entry will only be valid if:
- The correct answer is selected; and
- Full payment is received (unless entering via the free postal route).
Only entrants who correctly answer the skill question will be entered into the draw.
The skill question is designed to require genuine knowledge, judgement or skill and is intended to prevent a significant proportion of entrants from participating or progressing, in accordance with the Gambling Act 2005.
4. Entry Limits and Ticket Allocation
Each competition will clearly state:
- Entry price
- Maximum number of entries available
- Maximum entries per person (if applicable)
- Closing conditions
Each valid entry will be allocated a unique entry number.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel entries where fraud or manipulation is suspected. We also reserve the right to limit the number of entries per person.
PlateSeller reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry at its discretion where it reasonably believes the entrant has breached these terms or attempted to manipulate the competition.
5. Competition Draw and Sell-Out Policy
Each competition will display a closing date on the competition page. Competitions will normally close on the stated closing date or earlier if all available entries are sold before that date.
Once a competition has closed, a draw will take place and a winner will be selected from all valid entries.
If a competition does not sell out by the stated closing date, Plate Seller Ltd reserves the right to:
- Award the advertised prize; or
- Offer a cash alternative prize; or
- Award a cash prize proportionate to the total ticket sales.
If a competition cannot proceed due to operational, legal, or technical reasons, Plate Seller Ltd reserves the right to cancel the competition and refund all entrants in full. The draw will normally take place within 72 hours of the competition closing.
6. Free Postal Entry Route
A free postal entry route is available for each competition. Details of the postal entry process will also be published on the relevant competition page.
To submit a valid postal entry, entrants must hold a registered account on PlateSeller.com. Account registration is free of charge and must be completed before the postal entry is submitted so that entries can be verified and processed.

Free entries will be processed in the same manner as paid entries and will have an equal chance of winning.
The free postal entry route is provided to ensure that participation in the competition is not dependent on payment.
Plate Seller Ltd reserves the right to verify the validity of any postal entry and to disqualify entries that do not comply with these terms.
Proof of posting does not constitute proof of delivery.
7. Draw Process
Once all available entries have been sold, a winner will be selected at random from all eligible correct entries.
Draws may be conducted using randomised software or via a recorded live draw. Where automated software is used, a certified or independently verifiable randomisation method will be applied.
We may publish draw recordings for transparency. Our decision is final.
8. Payments
Paid entries must be completed through our authorised payment processor Cashflows. An entry will only be valid once payment authorisation has been successfully completed.
If a payment fails or is reversed, the entry will be void.
Plate Seller Ltd reserves the right to disqualify entries where payments are reversed, disputed, or identified as fraudulent.
9. Prizes
Prize details will be clearly described on each competition page.
Where the prize is a DVLA registration mark:
- PlateSeller will administer the transfer process in accordance with our Terms of Business
- The winner must provide required documentation promptly
Prizes are non-transferable.
No cash alternative will be offered unless expressly stated or where permitted under the Competition Draw and Sell-Out Policy.
We reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if necessary due to circumstances beyond our control.
Where the prize is a vehicle registration mark, the winner is responsible for ensuring the registration can legally be assigned to their vehicle in accordance with DVLA regulations.
10. Winner Notification and Verification
Winners will be contacted using the details provided at entry.
Before awarding the prize, we may require:
- Proof of age
- Proof of identity
- Confirmation of eligibility
If a winner fails verification, cannot be contacted within a reasonable timeframe, or refuses the prize, we reserve the right to select an alternative winner.
Winners must respond within 14 days of notification unless otherwise agreed.
11. Publication of Winners
To comply with UK consumer transparency requirements, we may publish the winner’s surname and county of residence.
Winners may object to publication where there are legitimate grounds.
12. Refunds
Entry fees are non-refundable once a valid entry has been successfully submitted, except where:
- a competition is cancelled by us;
- an entry cannot be accepted due to ticket availability or technical limitations; or
- a refund is required by applicable law.
Where a competition is cancelled by PlateSeller, all entrants will receive a full refund of the entry fee within 14 days of the cancellation.
Due to the nature of online competitions and the possibility of simultaneous entries from multiple users, it is possible that the number of tickets requested by a participant may exceed the number of tickets remaining at the time the transaction is processed.
In such circumstances:
- Only the available tickets at the time the order is processed will be allocated to the entrant.
- Any unfulfilled or excess entries will automatically be cancelled
- The entrant will receive a refund for the unallocated entries.
Refunds for cancelled or unallocated entries will be processed to the original payment method and may take up to 14 days to appear, depending on the policies of the entrant’s payment provider or issuing bank.
PlateSeller shall not be liable for bank processing times or delays outside of our control once a refund has been issued.
Submission of an entry does not guarantee allocation of the requested number of tickets where a competition is close to selling out
13. Fraud and Abuse
We reserve the right to disqualify entrants where fraud or unfair manipulation is suspected, cancel entries, or withhold prizes pending investigation.
Automated, bulk, or bot entries are prohibited.
14. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Competition Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot be excluded under UK law.
Subject to this, our total liability relating to any competition shall not exceed the total entry fees paid by the entrant.
15. Force Majeure
We shall not be liable for failure or delay in conducting a competition due to events beyond our reasonable control, including technical failure or regulatory intervention.
16. Data Protection
Personal data will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
Draw recordings may be published for transparency.
17. Governing Law
These Competition Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Consumers resident in the United Kingdom may bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.
